Rumors of NASA’s demise greatly exaggerated
by Nick Lampson

It is a growing concern that the public believes NASA is closing its doors. This is far from true. Although NASA’s shuttle fleet retired in 2011 after 30 years of admirable and groundbreaking service, the space agency’s vibrant mission is far from over. We need to keep the fires of the agency’s spirited agenda burning by ensuring NASA is fully funded to carry out what it has been tasked to do for our country.

The future of our nation’s space program lies in the hands of those elected to represent the people of the United States. A great responsibility is placed before these decision-makers. While we face economic obstacles that challenge every decision made in Washington, decisions made merely for political gain must stop. It’s time to restore civility in Congress. It’s time for action where action is needed – all politics aside.

What People Are Saying: Jim Rose

I am a Vietnam Veteran here in Galveston County. I am President of the local VVA Chapter and worked closely with then-Congressman Nick Lampson on Veterans issues. He never failed us. It is a pleasure to see him enter the fray again. I watched as he worked with the Galveston mayor in her efforts to get the City some help during the Hurricanes and I firmly believe that if he had kept his office during the last election the Space Center would still be a viable entity and we would still be the world’s leader in Space exploration. During his time in office I attended one of his town hall meetings where the Vice President of the NRA attended and told us that Nick was his biggest supporter on the Hill for our 2nd Amendent rights. I am a Republican and, even if you are one too, Nick Lampson deserves a serious look. As one of my favorite talk show hosts was fond of saying, don’t take my word for it, do your homework. I think that you will see what I have seen. Thanks for listening.

Campaign Kickoff a Success

Our thanks to over 150 supports who came out to our campaign kickoff. The Lampson Campaign began an all-day tour of the district, with stops in Freeport, Texas City and Beaumont. Below are some examples of the coverage from the kickoff. We hope to see everyone else along the way during this campaign.

From the Galveston Daily News

“First, he has name ID,” Stein said. “People in that district, especially Jefferson County, know who he is.” Second, the district is more favorable for Lampson.

From the Houston Chronicle

Lampson told his Texas City supporters he would focus on vital coastal issues, including helping to upgrade port facilities to take advantage of Panama Canal expansion, encouraging job growth in the ports and the petro-chemical industry and making sure that the Johnson Space Centerremains vital.

TX-14 Added to DCCC’s “Red to Blue” Program

Thanks to your efforts, generosity, and eagerness to spread the word, the Democratic Congressional Committee (DCCC) has selected our campaign to be part of their “Red to Blue” program. What you’ve shown the nation is that Southeast Texans believe we can take the 14th Congressional District from Red to Blue by working together.

Only eighteen campaigns from across the nation were chosen on the basis of grassroots support demonstrated over the past weekend. We asked you to help us show that we could generate 100 new donors in a weekend and we wound up with over 200 – one of the top showings in the nation. I’m thankful that the rest of the nation had the opportunity to see what I have the privilege of seeing every day.

The DCCC’s “Red to Blue” program highlights top Democratic campaigns across the country, and offers them financial, communications, grassroots, and strategic support. This helps ensure that your voice gets the proper support needed when campaign season reaches high gear.
